Matt Nightingale - Trainer

Matt joined the Lyon Training team in 2018. He has extensive experience in the adventure activities sector and prior to joining us he worked for 10 years teaching predominantly physics and outdoor education at Sixth-form level. 

Matt has many years of experience in the voluntary rescue sector and is currently a member of Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit and is a Mountain Rescue Search Dog Handler with his dog Morag. With this extensive operational rescue experience Matt is our lead trainer for the core rope rescue programmes we offer, he also specialises in the delivery of PPE inspection courses to the adventure activities and rescue sectors. 

Outside of work Matt enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including mountaineering and cycling.
