Rope Technicians should always ensure precautions are taken to prevent damage to anchor lines when they are in use. Hazards such as sharp edges, abrasive surfaces, corrosive substances and heat sources are common in the workplace and may damage ropes which may come into contact with them or close proximity.
Lyon Equipment design and manufacture an array of products to suit most environments, from Canvas Rope Protectors to Stainless Steel Edge Guards.
The Edge Guard's (patented) design combines a rope friendly contact surface with a strong angular shape to grip typical industrial plate edges. Available in two versions, the 10cm for a single rope and the 30cm for two ropes.
Made entirely from polished stainless steel with rope friendly contact surfaces, its angular shapes on the end plates and load bearing surfaces are there to make the most efficient use of the forces created when a rope is loaded. When used on plate edges such as steel toe boards, the four triangular ‘teeth’ on the end plates grip the edge with a camming action. The more rope pressure applied to the EDGE GUARD the firmer onto the edge it locks, reducing its potential for movement.
- Versatile, compact and lightweight with a stainless steel body for a longer service life
- The angled end plates keep the rope contact and resultant forces within the footprint of the Edge Guard, making it very stable in use
- When used on plate edges such as steel toe boards, the ‘teeth’ on the edge plates hook onto the edge with a camming action
- The more pressure the rope applies to the Edge Guard, the more it grips onto the edge, reducing its potential for movement
- Each Edge Guard is supplied with an adjustable securing cord and a spare length of securing cord
The Plug Hole is a deck through rope guide designed primarily to provide limited, localised abrasion protection for a textile rope which is rigged to pass through a steel deck at 90° to the deck.
Ideally, rope should always be rigged to avoid all contact with obstacles, where it is not possible to achieve a free hang by other practicable means, the Plug Hole may provide a solution.
The Plug Hole may be used with a single rope conforming to EN 1891, of diameter 9 to 13.5mm.
It is not intended to be used as a rope deviation, to change the direction of a rope or provide protection from hot surfaces.
After use, the Plug Hole may be removed and the Plug used to fill the hole, maintaining the integrity of the deck surface.
The canvas Rope Protector is designed for situations where a localised area of rope protection from limited abrasion is required.
The canvas Rope Protector can be installed directly on the rope or secured to the structure using a combination of the attached cord and the hook and loop closures provided.
- Provides limited protection to non-moving ropes from light abrasion
- Secure installation using prusik type attachment
- Dual layer canvas construction
- Hook and loop closure
- Lightweight and compact
- Available in a variety of sizes
The Edge Sheet is a large fabric panel that provides limited protection for fixed ropes from abrasion.
Commonly used in rope rescue operations it may be deployed as an open sheet laid and secured to an irregular surface.
The Edge Sheet may also assist in containing loose, lightweight materials which may be dislodged during technical rope work in the natural environment.
The Connectable Edge Sheet is fitted with stainless steel hook buckles and hook and loop secured joint cover. These enable quick and effective joining of sheets to cover large areas
- Dual layer canvas construction
- 90 x 90 cm sheet size
- Secure installation using prusik type attachment
