This is the foundation work at height training required to enable AFOs including Rifle Officers to safely work at height during the course of their duties under the guidance of a Firearms Rope Access Dispatcher.

Operatives will gain skills to safely and effectively use a variety of work at height equipment and techniques including work restraint, work positioning and fall arrest. Also covered is relevant work at height legislation and guidelines and the basic selection, care and maintenance of equipment.


Police Officer Work At Height Training Course

Prerequisites

This course is for Police Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs) with an aptitude for working at height. Prior experience of working at height is an advantage but not essential.
Medically fit and healthy (if unsure please contact us)
The minimum age of candidates is 18 years

Course Content

This course fulfils the Learning Outcomes and Performance Criteria required in the National Firearms Training Curriculum Unit of Learning E3.1.

Candidates will gain skills to allow them to operate safely under the guidance of a Dispatcher using a limited quantity of work at height equipment and techniques. Access methods covered will include work restraint, fall arrest and work positioning.

Assessment

The course assessment is by short written test and continual practical assessment by Lyon staff.

Certification

A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates.
Certificate valid for three years from date of assessment.
