We supply market-leading products and expertise across the Cycle, Outdoor, Watersports, and Work at Height industries. Lyon is also home to the Petzl UK Agency.

In addition to distribution, we design and manufacture our own Lyon branded products and provide technical training for the work at height and rescue industries. Our products are often used in the following industries: offshore oil and gas, wind energy, railway infrastructure, film and television, adventure parks, rescue services and military.

We are seeking to appoint a Production Operative to join the team.

About the role of a Production Operative

Based at our head office in Tebay, you will work within our innovative production team who produce a range of metal products, from ladders to stretchers, and a huge range of bespoke soft goods, from bags to slings. Your role will be to support all aspects of production, with a focus on carrying out rigorous inspections of incoming and outgoing goods, maintaining the quality of our world class products.

We are looking to fill a full-time position (37.5 hours per week).

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Goods-in inspection

  • Quality control checks

  • Final inspection of finished products

  • Working on your own or as part of the production team

  • Understanding and following written, illustrated, and verbal work instructions

  • Delivering high quality finished goods to a high standard

  • Showing due diligence and reporting any faults or discrepancies to a supervisor

  • Assisting in manufacturing tasks and procedures to efficiently complete finished product

  • Operating various manufacturing tools and machinery

  • Using IT to maintain accurate production records

  • Secondary operations such as assembly

  • Any other duties as necessitated by the needs of the business

The person we seek will ideally have the following:

  • Be comfortable carrying out hands‑on production work and checking that products are made correctly. Experience is beneficial, but full training will be given.

  • Take pride in doing the job right, with good attention to detail so quality standards are met every time

  • Be reliable and self‑motivated, able to work on their own when needed and as part of a team

  • Follow work instructions, quality checks, and health & safety rules consistently

  • Be able to share quality issues to ensure product excellence, reduce risk, save cost and maintain compliance.

  • Be confident in the use of computers and computer software.

  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors to help keep work running smoothly

  • Be willing to learn new tasks and processes and take part in training and development

  • Be able to carry out recurring tasks while staying focused and maintaining quality throughout the day

  • Work in a way that helps reduce waste, errors, and environmental impact, following site recycling and waste procedures
