Rope Rescue Operator
Duration - 5 Days :: Course Cost - £800 plus VAT
The course will provide the knowledge, skills and understanding to allow candidates to operate safely and effectively during rope rescue activities in their workplace, whether that be a ‘built’ or ‘natural’ environment. The programme includes access to and from the incident site, anchors and rescue system construction and twin-line rescue system operation (both with and without a stretcher).
Although not essential, to gain maximum benefit from this course candidates will have basic pre-course experience of work at height. Ideally course applicants will have completed the Lyon 1 day Work at Height course (or equivalent) within the previous 3 years.
Members of mountain and cave rescue teams holding full ‘Operational’ status may gain direct access to this course.
The course itself has a very ‘hands-on’ bias, with the practical sessions taking place either in our purpose-built training centre at Tebay or at a number of nearby ‘natural’ venues as appropriate. Many of the practical sessions are scenario-based, providing candidates with multiple opportunities to practise their rescue skills in a variety of situations. Student to instructor ratio will not exceed 4:1.
Following assessment, successful candidates will be issued with a Lyon Equipment Rope Rescue Operator certificate and an ID card record of training, valid for 3 years.
