Pre-launch samples of the new PETZL RIG D21 descender have been popping up at workshops and technical events throughout the country in the last few months. Although not available until spring of 2010 the RIG is generating great interest with professional users in the rope access and specialist intervention sectors and advanced orders are already coming into resellers. Think of a descender that is simple to thread and gives a smooth controlled descent. One that allows you to belay, lower loads or work efficiently as part of an ascending system. Add the ability to be used in ‘snatch rescue’ situations, fit a multi function handle that falls easily to hand and in one smooth movement creates a positive ‘lock’on the rope and you have the blueprint for the RIG. This compact personal descender meets EN 12841:2006 type C, EN341:1997 Class A and NFPA 1983 ed.2006 and works on semi-static ropes of between 10.5 and11.5mm diameter.
