Known worldwide as the authoritative event for professionals directly involved with managing or carrying out work at height, the title of this years event is ‘Extreme locations – Extreme performance

The 2010 symposium will draw together professionals and specialists from a widely diverse range of industries where work at height is an essential feature.

Technical rope rescue, rope access, arboriculture, event and film production will all be represented with practical demonstrations and presentations from key players in these fields.

Preparations for this year’s event are well in hand, with the Lyon team and our friends from the world of work at height engaged in research and testing that will be presented in a highly visual way.

Lectures and speakers confirmed this year to date include:

  • ‘Work at Height in Fire and Rescue - Emerging Challenges’ Dave Merchant – UVSAR
  • ‘A comparison of European and North American standards for connectors’ Fred Hall – DMM
  • ‘Development of new test methods and an anthropomorphic test dummy for fall-arrest testing purposes’ Dave Riches – Safety Squared

For those who enjoy seeing equipment and techniques in action the practical demonstrations planned are:

  • ‘Working at Height in Confined Spaces’ presented by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Rope Rescue Team
  • ‘Compatibility of fall arrest harnesses with back mounted equipment’ - Lyon Equipment Ltd
  • Developments in 3 Dimensional rigging techniques’ - Treemagineers
  • ‘Anchor loadings and effects of component failure on cableway systems’ – Lyon Equipment Ltd

The event follows the two day format so successful in previous years.
