For work at height and in difficult environments

The authoritative event for professionals directly involved with managing or carrying out work at height.

Now in its 9th year, the Lyon Technical Symposium is seen as the authoritative event for professionals directly involved with managing or carrying out work at height. Running from Tuesday 16th to Wednesday 17th September 2008 at Rheged in Penrith, see below for more details:

Tuesday 16th September
2.00 pm – 5.00 pm - Practical Demonstrations

Photographs and video help in understanding concepts and ideas but seeing it for real brings a clarity that is unmatched. For this reason delegates see the demonstration day as an essential part of our technical symposium.

Held inside Lyon’s purpose built training facility at Tebay, the demonstration day is intended to give delegates the opportunity to see at close range dynamic tests and simulations relating directly to the following days lectures.

The demonstrations planned at present include a mix of technique and the technical.

We have a practical session on movement and effective protection when accessing structures from mobile platforms (especially relevant to those using MEWPs in construction or TL platforms in Fire and Rescue), followed by real time drop tests illustrating potential hazards of harness design not covered by existing testing.

Because of the overwhelming interest attracted by the demonstrations, access this year is unfortunately restricted to symposium ticket holders only.

Symposium Dinner

A perfect way to finish off the first day is the option of joining us for an evening meal at Rheged. Come and enjoy a Carvery of local produce set in the stunning Mountain Hall which overlooks the waterfall and lake. The elevated bar area is an ideal place to unwind following an action packed day!
