La Sportiva Party - The Castle - 24th Nov 2012
(Now updated with the video from the party!) Following the success of previous years, the “La Sportiva Climbing Party” is back for the fifth year running this November! Four exciting climbing events in some of Europe’s most important climbing walls: Big Wall in Moscow, Mountain Network in Amsterdam and Dordrecht and The Castle Climbing Centre in London!
In November climbing enthusiasts and fans of the La Sportiva brand will be able to meet La Sportiva athletes, compete in serious and fun contests with fabulous prizes to be won, test drive the latest climbing shoes including the new FUTURA with NO-EDGE technology, Speedster, Miura VS Woman and Python models, and have fun with live music and food!
Lyon and La Sportiva team members will be attending to help with competitions, give lectures and to offer tips and techniques. We're pleased to confirm the following will be attending:

La Sportiva Futura and Rock Shoe Demo's Throughout The Day
We will be demoing a full range of sizes of the new No-Edge concept Futura climbing shoes and also a range of other La Sportiva shoes for you to try.

The Open final will be a 'showcase' event with the top 3 men and women partnered with our team members. Adrian, Gav, Jakob, Leah, Hazel and Angela. It should make for a great spectator event as we've a suspicion the final will be made up of some top sponsored climbers :-)
Masterclasses And Lectures
A wide range of masterclasses and lectures including Neil Gresham discussing climbing technique, these will be available for you to register for throughout the day. The full masterclass and lecture schedule is still to be confirmed so watch this space!

-Neil Gresham with a masterclass session on how to use fingerboards & campus boards and an evening talk on all-round rock, ice and deep water soloing from the UK and around the globe, including his latest Pembroke route Olympiad, 8b, Britain's hardest DWS.
-Leah Crane discussing 'Carrying The Flame' and passing on the lessons she learned from Neil Gresham to the next generation. (e.g. Jim Pope's recent Grit ticks)
-Hazel Findlay chatting about her recent success in the states.

Finger buffet food available between 6.00pm and 7.00pm. Pizza oven in operation through the day. The Café will also be open all day.
-Phill Welch's DJ sets are never boring, that's for sure, a journey through a mixture of house, electro, techno, old skool, hardcore, breaks and funk, held up by an impressive collection of original vinyl pressings dating back to the 80's. Find out more here.....
-Kelvin Driscoll has been DJing across the globe since 1999, utilising traditional and modern media to construct mixes and destroy dancefloors. Now based in Brighton, Kelvin hosts mixes, Harbinger performances, solo project productions, with the occasional special appearance across Europe, plus tracks on soundcloud: (www.soundcloud.com/kelvinb)
Phill and Kelvin will be playing back to back for part of the night, so expect a full-on party vibe with jackin' deep and tech-house, ghetto funk, hip hop mash ups, techno, breaks, drum & bass and expect some disco too!
-The Bonfire Band is a constantly changing and evolving line-up of musicians. Playing anything from full five-piece gigs with drums and electric guitars, to trio gigs with piano and double bass, to quiet solo performances picking tunes on a guanjo. http://www.thebonfireband.co.uk/
Spectators/parents not climbing can come into the centre free of charge. Lectures and the after-party are also free, the entry fee for comps will be £5 for Castle members and juniors and £10.00 for everyone else. Registration will be available at a special area on the day.
Assessed (by The Castle) under 18'can sign the comp registration form like the adults.
Non-registered under 18's; (16-18) have to have parental consent but don't have to have an adult present; under 16's have to have an adult present.
