| Crucial Service 8a+ |
|
I made good use of the collective psyche, and powered through a new link up now called Crucial Service, and graded 8a+. This is a 14 move power endurance problem, and finishes through a beautiful sequence to top out. |

| Re-ascent of Crucial Times... |
|
I got some good news today via www.northwalesbouldering.com : Before I headed off for the week, I re- ascended Crucial Times in The Cave. Due to ground erosion, I had been shocked to find that this had been getting claimed from a 'crouch' start as opposed to the original full sit down start. Now, this being the true nature of the problem, I had to prove a point. Basically, on the day that the cave devotee, Chris Doyle, informed myself and 'Nodder' about this, I quickly went about re-establishing the sit down, using only a spot pad to make a point. Its now graded 8a+, and worth every ounce of the grade - you just have to pull very hard!

I had a pretty random day today: First up, I flew back from Fuerteventura at 4am this morning, arrived home and found a recorded message informing me to meet up with film maker Alaister Lee at the Beacon Centre at 9.30am., so, after a quick shower, headed on up. |

At last! I managed a new 'problem' of sorts today. I've had this personal 'acid test' in Parasellas Cave (a.k.a. The Cave of Justice) for a fair while (a couple of years) now.

I had a pretty random day today: First up, I flew back from Fuerteventura at 4am this morning, arrived home and found a recorded message informing me to meet up with film maker Alaister Lee at the Beacon Centre at 9.30am., so, after a quick shower, headed on up. The deal was, Alaister had been asked to produce and film a 20 minute news item for the Cable TV channel CNCB (if you live in the UK, this is the Sky News channel). The show the filming was for was 'World Business News', who have a sports feature with each airing. Anyway, this involved hanging about in the climbing wall for a while, talking about what walls have to offer the climber/boulderer, is there a place for indoor training , can you make a living out of climbing etc, so pretty boring. After this, we got to go outside - much better! Standard roof climbing at the Cromlech in the Llanberis Pass was filmed, another interveiw about the outdoors, and then on to The Fricsan for a barbecue and a few pints (this was the payment for the day, so I obviously bought up the subject of 'making a living out of climbing'; if this is how you got paid, there would be a nation of fat, drunk boulderers!). All in all, it was a cool day, and as usual, it was nice to have the opportunity to do something quite different to the norm with my day! |
