Technical Symposium 2005

The 5th annual Technical Symposium was held on the 21st & 22nd September 2005 at Lyon Equipment's Training Centre at Tebay, Cumbria and at Rheged Discovery Centre near Penrith, Cumbria. Considered by many to be the authoritative event for professionals directly involved with managing or carrying out work at height. The symposium provided delegates with up-to-the-minute information on a broad range of topical issues within the personal fall protection field.

Wednesday afternoon 21st September, Lyon Equipment Training Centre, J38, M6, Cumbria

Practical demonstrations: Dynamic drop testing on BS EN 355 Energy absorbing lanyards, testing the Petzl ASAP with approved and non-approved accessories to show how the manufacturer's instructions must always be followed, and belay devices used for rescue loads of up to 280kg.

Wednesday evening 21st September, Symposium Dinner at Rheged Discovery Centre. This was a good opportunity to network and socialise.

Thursday 22nd September, Rheghed Discovery Centre, nr J40, M6, Cumbria

Lectures, panel discussions and question & answer sessions.

There was also an open forum session hosted by Lyon Equipment on the new Work at Height Regulations, delegates had the opportunity to quiz a panel of leading experts from HSE and Industry on the Regulations and their impact on working practices.
